What is Heart Failure?

Heart Failure (HF) is a chronic condition which is a direct result of the heart not having the ability to pump enough oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the cells in the body. The heart will try to compensate for this deficit by enlarging, developing a denser muscle mass, pumping faster, narrowing blood vessels, or diverting blood away from less vital organs. While the heart's attempt at fixing this problem is commendable, this can cause a variety of other issues that can further negatively impact the heart's health and that of other organs, potentially causing a fatality.

Pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease could lead to heart failure. Individuals who are obese, 65 years of age or older, and who have a history of a heart attack are at a higher risk.

You may be eligible to take part in the study if you are:

• at least 18 years of age

• diagnosed with Heart Failure

You may be compensated for time and travel and paid $50 for each completed study visit.
